Condition : Gouache on paper, linen-backed. Cut in the margins, with some repaired tears. Few small parts missing and redrawn. The design is a little bit wavy. In fair condition. Signed by the artist lower left.
Design for a poster made for a Parisian music show led by Polin. Original gouache in black, colour, fat crayons, signed by Alfred Victor Choubrac (1853-1902) who was a French painter, draftsman, poster artist and illustrator.
He was specialized in the posters of shows of the Parisian scene, for places such as: the Theatre of the varieties, the Theatre of the Châtelet, the Folies Bergère, the comic Opera, Au joyeux red mill, the Casino of Paris, the Eldorado, the Cirque Fernando ...
He produced more than a hundred posters, which places him among the most important artist of his time.
There's a dedication in lead pencil in the upper right corner: " A Roi des TourLourous, son dévoué A. Choubrac ".
The design is signed in lead pencil in left hand part.
The poster has been cut in the margins, lacking the publishing company text : Printed by Imp. Weyl.
The Alcazar d'été (today Pavillon Gabriel) is a Parisian café-concert opened in 1860 and disappeared in 1914, formerly located in the gardens of the Champs-Elysées.
Polin who is represented on the poster, was a French concert singer.
