Plans of Paris

Parisian life
Scenes of Parisian Life

Daily life is filled with repetitive activities-seemingly mundane motions and actions that are nevertheless weighted with meaning because of their cumulative effect in structuring time and defining experience. Whether they arise from business, busyness, or leisure, these rituals, occupations and pastimes are significant.

From the minute to the hour, to the day, to the week, to the month, to the season, to the year, any single activity incorporates both immediacy, existing in the moment, and endurance, reflected in its continuing practice. A large number of prints, oil paintings were made in the last centuries who show the elite, fashionable Parisian lifestyle during good and worst time.

Daumier
Daumier

Known as the "Michelango of Caricature", Honoré Daumier was a prolific painter, printmaker, sculptor, and caricaturist. He produced over 4,00 lithographs in his lifetime, which were known for their satires of political figures and the the behavior of the bourgeois in society.
As a boy, he showed an inclination towards art, which his father tried to discourage, and so he put him to work as an usher. But, Daumier's talents could not be dissuaded, and he later works at a bookseller, eventually landing in the employ of Alexandre Lenoir, an artist and archaeologist, and becoming his protégé.
