Condition : In good condition, lithograph slightly toned. Mounted on to thick backing card. Old fixings on reverse.
Lithograph by Gustave Frison showing a man writing a letter "to Monsieur Battaupieu, Manufacturer of trumpets for the Last Judgment…." (which is written in full below), beside him we see a surprised maid-servant look down the top half of a dress, held out by a 'person' with a hairy, masculine chest!
Frison contributed to the main satirical periodicals of the latter half of the 19th century, 'The Comic Museum', 'Le Troupier', 'La Galerie Comique'. He also published a satirical / anticlerical weekly from 1878-1885 called 'Le Monde Pleasant.'
